Study of Uniaxial Tensile Properties of Hexagonal Boron Nitride Nanoribbons

Uniaxial tensile properties of hexagonal boron nitride nanoribbons and dependence of these properties on temperature, strain rate, and the inclusion of vacancy defects have been explored with molecular dynamics simulations using Tersoff potential. The ultimate tensile strength of pristine hexagonal boron nitride nanoribbon of 26 nm x 5 nm with armchair chirality is found to be 100.5 GPa. The ultimate tensile strength and strain have been found decreasing with increasing the temperature while an opposite trend has been observed for increasing the strain rate. Furthermore, the vacancy defects reduce ultimate tensile strength and strain where the effect of bi-vacancy is clearly dominating over point vacancy

A Comparative Study between Response Surface Methodology and Genetic Algorithm in Optimization and Extraction of Leaf Protein Concentrate from Diplazium esculentum of Assam

Fern is a seedless vascular plant that reproduces via spores and has various usefulness. This study was carried out to optimize the conditions of leaf protein concentrate extraction using ultrasound from defatted fern type Diplazium esculentum. The extraction of defatted fern protein was conducted using ultrasound. Rotatable central composite design (RCCD) of response surface methodology was used for identification of the best condition and extraction yield optimization. An attempt with genetic algorithm optimization was also carried out and revealed that optimized results were of highest desirability as compared to response surface methodology. The final optimum results, by using genetic algorithm was observed to be 21.12 min of sonication time, 56.88 °C temperature, 7.59 pH and 66.2 ml of solvent for an optimum protein yield of 33.79% where desirability value was 1.00. UHPLC analysis of the sample revealed the presence of all the essential amino acids, except tryptophan

Effects of vermicompost and urea on the seed germination and growth parameters of Vigna mungo L. and Vigna radiata L. Wilzek

Growth attributes of Vigna mungo and Vigna radiata crop influenced by level and type of fertilizers. The present study was carried out to evaluate and compare the effects of organic (vermicompost) and inorganic (urea) fertilizers on the germination percentage and seedling growth of V. radiata (Green gram) and V. mungo (Black gram). Fresh weight and dry weight of tested plant samples at 10th days of growth stage were also determined. Vermicompost was used as organic fertilizer and urea as inorganic fertilizer. Experimental results showed that vermicompost and urea both has positive effect on seedling growth parameters of V. mungo and V. radiata [average root length (6.1cm and 6.7cm)] , shoot length (6.5cm and 8.3cm), leaf area (312.2 sq.cm and 334.1 sq.cm] as compared to control set [average root length (4.4cm and 4.3cm)] , shoot length (6cm and 5.9cm), leaf area (282.7 sq.cm and 305.5 sq.cm). But urea exerts negative effect on seed germination percentage in V. mungo and V. radiata (58% and 50%) as compared to control (77%). Vermicompost exhibited better result in above parameters in comparison to urea. V. mungo showed increased value in comparison considering V. radiata in case of organic, inorganic fertilizer treated as well as control sets. As composition of locally available fertilizers is unknown, the application of these fertilizers for improving germination percentage and growth parameters of tested crop need to be evaluated. Present work may provide the suggestive approach for usage of these tested fertilizers in field level trial

Post-Quantum Secure Identity-Based Encryption Scheme Using Random Integer Lattices for IoT-Enabled AI Applications

Identity-based encryption is an important cryptographic system that is employed to ensure confidentiality of a message in communication. This article presents a provably secure identity based encryption based on post quantum security assumption. The security of the proposed encryption is based on the hard problem, namely Learning with Errors on integer lattices. This construction is anonymous and produces pseudo random ciphers. Both public-key size and ciphertext-size have been reduced in the proposed encryption as compared to those for other relevant schemes without compromising the security. Next, we incorporate the constructed identity based encryption (IBE) for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, where the IoT smart devices send securely the sensing data to their nearby gateway nodes(s) with the help of IBE and the gateway node(s) secure aggregate the data from the smart devices by decrypting the messages using the proposed IBE decryption. Later, the gateway nodes will securely send the aggregated data to the cloud server(s) and the Big data analytics is performed on the authenticated data using the Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for accurate and better predictions

    Herbal Agents Having Abortive Activity

The goal of our study is to increase public awareness of natural contraceptives and their powerful advantages over surgical abortion in order to provide people with an alternative method of ending an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy rather than the dreaded surgical procedure. Since ancient times, traditional remedies have been used all across the world to control fertility. Still, the tribal community mostly relies on these herbs for contraception and to cause abortions. The belief in therapeutic approaches has not been diminished despite the tremendous advancement of allopathic treatment because of its negative side effects.  Plants and herbs have been used to induce abortions, although there is very little published information on the most regularly used ones. The grail of this paper is to detail the herbal products used to cause abortion

Evaluation of the Effect of Tagetes erecta Leaves Hydroalcoholic Extract on Blood Clotting Time

People were afflicted with a variety of illnesses prior to the revolution, and there was no access to medications sufficiently, at that time herbal agents fulfilled the demand for medications. In these modern days due to the huge side effects as well as drug resistance of marketed drugs, the demand for herbal medicines is increasing. We are all busy in our lives these days, we are traveling here and there to maintain our social duties. Due to this, the number of accidents is increasing around us. When a blood vessel is injured, blood clotting, or coagulation, is a crucial process that reduces excessive bleeding. So, the drugs that are able to reduce clotting time are essential for us. In this research we evaluated the blood clotting effect of two different doses (250mg/kg and 500mg/kg) of Tagetes erecta leaves hydroalcoholic extract on the albino wistar rat, and compared the effect with a marketed standard drug Tranexamic Acid (Pause 500 mg)
